Allergies on the ticket
When a guest declares an allergy — to their server, or from their own phone — every ticket of that order carries it in a red banner. Where the restaurant requires it, each station must acknowledge the allergy before the ticket can be worked.
The allergy banner
The banner sits at the top of the ticket, outside the part of the card that clips, so a long ticket can never hide it.
- ALLERGY: PEANUT, SESAME — every allergen declared on the order, in SSP's names. ALLERGY: SEE NOTE when the guest gave only a note.
- A white SEVERE tag when any declaration was marked severe.
- The guest's note in quotes, with (Allergy) or (Preference) when they gave that.
- One tag per station that receives the order: ✓ Grill · Sam · 19:42 once acknowledged, Fry: not acknowledged until then.
The banner shows on every ticket with an allergy, whatever the location's setting. The setting only decides whether the ticket waits for the acknowledgement.
Acknowledging
Read the banner, then tap Acknowledge allergy. Your station's tag turns to ✓ with your name and the time.
Each station acknowledges for itself. One cook cannot acknowledge for the whole kitchen:
| Screen | Buttons |
|---|---|
| Prep screen (one or more stations ticked) | One Acknowledge allergy, for the stations this screen shows |
| All Stations | One button per station that still owes it: Acknowledge for Grill, Acknowledge for Fry. Each acknowledges only that station. |
| Expo screen (the pass) | None. The pass sees who has acknowledged, but does not acknowledge for the cooks. |
See Choosing a station for the kinds of screen.
While another station still owes it, the banner says so in yellow: Waiting for Fry to acknowledge (or Fry and Grill). It clears as soon as they do.
If an acknowledgement is refused, the banner says why: Not acknowledged: … with the server's reason.
When the ticket waits
With Kitchen must acknowledge allergies on in SSP Manager (the default — see Compliance settings), the ticket's lines cannot be Started, Claimed or Plated until the stations that receive the order have acknowledged.
Tap one anyway and nothing moves. The banner gets a pulsing yellow ring and says Acknowledge the allergy before starting or bumping this ticket. — or, if your station has acknowledged and another hasn't, Waiting for Fry to acknowledge.
With the setting off, the banner still shows and the buttons are still there to acknowledge, but nothing is held.
New allergies and new rounds
- An allergy added later. If the guest declares another allergy after you acknowledged, your acknowledgement is reopened: the banner pulses and says A new allergy was added. Acknowledge it again before going on.
- A new round. A round added after the check was paid arrives as its own ticket. The allergies declared earlier in the visit come with it, and each station acknowledges that ticket afresh.
