Payment Gateways

SSP POS supports multiple payment gateway integrations to process customer payments. You can configure different payment gateways for each location based on your business needs.

Supported Payment Gateways​

Built-in Gateways​

Stripe​

Stripe is our primary payment processor, supporting:

  • Credit/Debit Cards - Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover
  • Digital Wallets - Apple Pay, Google Pay
  • Card Present - Terminal payments for in-person transactions
  • Alipay - Popular in Asia-Pacific regions

Currencies: USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, JPY, KRW, VND, and 100+ more

Setup: Contact your SSP account manager to enable Stripe for your organization.

PayPal​

PayPal integration for online and mobile orders:

  • PayPal Wallet - Customers pay with their PayPal balance
  • PayPal Credit - Financing options for customers
  • Venmo - Popular among younger demographics

Currencies: USD, CAD, EUR, GBP

Setup: Contact your SSP account manager to enable PayPal for your organization.

External Payment Gateways​

SSP POS supports third-party payment gateway integrations through our Plugin System. Popular external gateways include:

  • Razorpay - India (UPI, Cards, Netbanking, Wallets)
  • Paytm - India (UPI, Cards, Wallets)
  • Square - North America (Cards, Digital Wallets)
  • Adyen - Global (Cards, Local payment methods)
  • Worldpay - Global (Cards, Alternative payments)

External gateways are provided by third-party developers. Contact the gateway provider directly for setup assistance or check our Payment Gateway Marketplace.

Configuring Payment Gateways​

For Location Managers​

  1. Navigate to Settings

    • Open SSP Manager App
    • Go to Settings > Payments
  2. Select Location

    • Choose the location you want to configure
    • Click Payment Gateway Configuration
  3. Choose Gateway

    • Select from available gateways (Stripe, PayPal, or external)
    • Click Configure
  4. Enter Credentials

    • For Stripe: Your API keys will be pre-configured by SSP
    • For External Gateways: Enter the API credentials provided by the gateway provider
  5. Test Configuration

    • Click Test Connection to verify the setup
    • Process a test transaction (will be refunded automatically)
  6. Activate

    • Once verified, click Activate to start accepting payments

Payment Gateway Settings​

Each gateway can be configured with:

  • Sandbox Mode - Test payments without processing real charges
  • Default Currency - Primary currency for this location
  • Accepted Payment Methods - Cards, UPI, wallets, etc.
  • Transaction Limits - Minimum and maximum transaction amounts
  • Auto-refund - Automatically refund failed orders

Managing Multiple Gateways​

You can configure multiple payment gateways for a single location:

  1. Primary Gateway - Default gateway for all transactions
  2. Fallback Gateway - Used if primary gateway fails
  3. Method-specific Gateways - Different gateways for cards vs. UPI

Example Configuration:

  • Card Payments → Stripe
  • UPI Payments → Razorpay
  • PayPal Payments → PayPal

Fees and Pricing​

Payment gateway fees vary by provider:

Stripe​

  • Card Payments: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
  • Card Present: 2.7% + $0.05 per transaction
  • International Cards: +1.5%

PayPal​

  • Domestic: 2.99% + $0.49 per transaction
  • International: 4.49% + fixed fee

External Gateways​

  • Fees vary by provider
  • Check with the gateway provider for current pricing

SSP does not charge additional fees on top of gateway fees. You pay the gateway's standard rates directly to them.

Security & Compliance​

All payment gateways integrated with SSP POS are:

  • PCI-DSS Compliant - Industry-standard security
  • Encrypted - End-to-end encryption for all transactions
  • 3D Secure - Additional authentication for online payments
  • Fraud Detection - Built-in fraud prevention tools

Never share your gateway API keys or credentials with anyone. SSP support will never ask for your payment credentials.

Troubleshooting​

Common Issues​

Gateway Connection Failed

  • Verify your API credentials are correct
  • Check if the gateway is in sandbox mode vs. production mode
  • Ensure your IP address is whitelisted (if required)

Transaction Declined

  • Check if the customer's payment method is valid
  • Verify transaction doesn't exceed gateway limits
  • Review gateway dashboard for specific decline reason

Refund Failed

  • Ensure original transaction has settled (usually 24 hours)
  • Check if partial refunds are supported
  • Verify gateway account has sufficient balance
